Wayland has previously held senior positions and Directorships with; Thames Water, The Berkeley Group and Crest Nicholson where he was responsible for a number of significant mixed use projects, including Barnes Waterside and The London Wetlands Centre, Innova Park in the London Borough of Enfield, Charter Quay in Kingston Upon Thames, Brentford Lock in Brentford and Woolston Riverside in Southampton.
Nicholas was until 1997 Senior Partner and Head of the Planning and Environment Department of Berwin Leighton, then rated independently as the single pre-eminent planning law firm in the country. He has been responsible for shaping the planning, design and environmental strategy and leading the teams for some of the biggest planning projects around the country including; The London Eye and Millennium Dome, Portcullis House - The New Parliamentary Building, The major housing, retail and employment releases in the Ashford Growth Area, Blue Water Park, Crossways Business Park, Ebbsfleet New City and the Thames Gateway Strategy for employment sites and over 10,000 houses, The housing and employment releases within the Medway Valley in Kent, Davenport Green, Manchester (1m sq ft office released in the green belt).
